New electronic license and software delivery for Autodesk AutoCAD LT

Using electronic delivery for software packages has become a standardised practice within the industry.  Not only is it seen as a more convenient and efficient way to access software, but the reduction in packaging and delivery makes it a more environmentally friendly option.

From the 7th August Autodesk will complete the digital transition by making electronic delivery of licenses and software the only required fulfillment for Autodesk AutoCAD LT software products.  This means that whilst serialised box SKUs of AutoCAD LT will no longer be available to buy in the UK, clients on subscription will still be able to request free physical data as part of their package as normal, also partners and customers can still buy unserialised media kits.

What if you still want to receive physical delivery of your AutoCAD software?

You will still have this option by ordering an unserialised media kit – the software installation kit without abev1 serial number attached to it – and this will act as a 30-day trial until you activate it with your serial number.  Any existing physical stock of the AutoCAD software will remain completely unaffected.

What does this mean for me as an Autodesk client?

The handover from physical delivery to electronic delivery doesn’t affect how you use AutoCAD at all, it is only the way in which you initially receive the software that will be affected.  By receiving the software electronically as standard means that you are helping to reduce Autodesk’s and your own carbon footprint, and it also means immediate and convenient access to AutoCAD software.  However, Autodesk are still enabling those that prefer a physical delivery to have one by request.

This digital transition is currently only for Autodesk AutoCAD LT and Autodesk AutoCAD LT for Mac.
